Meg's Got a Bad Rep

Meg is in a mood. A rebellious, vindictive, irrational mood. So, I went to school and was telling my students about Meg and the things she's done to torture me. One student drew his interpretation of Meg...

Some of Katie's Work

Katie is so busy with school and such that she doesn't have time to put her work on her blog. SO...I wanted to post some things that she's done that I think are really cool.

Another Cool Idea From Joel

Joel told me I had to try this, so I did. It only takes a few minutes.

First, I got the packing tape and picked out a picture from an old National Geographic...

Then I put a strip of tape over the picture...

Rubbed the bubbles out and cut it out...

Then I soaked it in warm water for a few minutes...

When the paper felt soggy enough, I scraped the paper off the back of the tape...

The ink was still on the tape. You could see through the photo. It was no longer sticky. It was cool...

Thanks Joel.

Another Convergence....

I had a crazy dream a week or so ago. I won't go into all the crazy details, but I dreamed about a train depot. Well, a few days later, Steave and I went to Ellijay to get some apples and enjoy the autumn weather. On the way back we decided to take a detour to see a place where a co-worker had rented a house for vacation.
Yes, you guessed it, be passed the very depot that was in my dream. Here it is:

In a Blue Fuzzy Robe

Dear Blog,
I sit here at 5:54am in a blue, fuzzy robe, head hung low, begging your forgiveness. I am so sorry that I've neglected you for so long. I would like to, however, defend myself. I have been so stinking busy! It's been conference week at school, so I'm there until 6pm. (which may be a normal end of the day time for a lot of people, but way past a teacher's clock out time!) Then, I went down to Columbus, GA to attend the waiting room event for Mike G's back surgery. Well, I could go on and on, however, I see by the clock that I've got to run to get ready for school. I have to swing by the grocery to pick up some caramel for apples. Someday soon, dear blog, we will spend some quality time together.
Sincerely,
Jill

Time for a Change

It's time to change my banner. It's time to change my photos. It's time to write a new post. But I have NO time!!

Look at this picture. Talk amongst yourselves.
Have a great day!

Interesting Saturday

I spent an interesting day today. I went and worked at Go Fish. It's a store on Marietta Square where my daughter works. (and it is 2 or 3 doors down from The Corner Shop, you know, where Tina and her Mum sell British foods.) Go Fish needed an extra body on the floor today and so I volunteered. It was really fun.

I got to restock the bracelets and put all the clothes in correct size order. I also straightened the t-shirt shelves by refolding the shirts using a handy dandy t-shirt folding guide. I held necklaces and earrings for Katie while she restocked the display cases. I got to talk to interesting people including a guy who told me all about his tattoos. Very interesting.

We ate lunch in the backroom while watching the security camera. I ate a burrito the size of my head while hypnotized by the little monitor.

Mel had the most ecclectic and fun collection of music on her ipod. I LOVE to be introduced to new music. She told me about Bond and a new movement in opera. I am so excited.

You should check them out: Youtube video of Bond.

And of course I can't go in that store without buying something, so I left with a wood carving of a face patterned after the face on the Shroud of Turin. It's a little spooky, but really cool.

After work, Katie and I went to get a milkshake and we stopped by The Corner Shop and laughed with Tina's Mum. She told me a great story about hanging cigarette boxes on a pram for a baby to play with while she rang up a jar of lemon curd for me. She thought the cigarette box toys were terrible but terribly funny at the same time. We laughed really hard. I like Tina's Mum.
